From the Penang Scrabble Club

Dear Henry,

The countdown has begun for the 6th Penang Open Scrabble Tournament. For those scrabblers and non scrabblers who are still in the dark, this year's tournament can be considered the premier scrabble competition in Malaysia this year . We, the committee members of the Penang Scrabble Club have put in a lot of effort and energy to make it the richest event in the country in terms of prize money up for grabs and also to attract players in this region to come and participate.

With Island College of Technology, Balik Pulau, Penang as the main sponsor, this event which will be held in the cool comfort of City BayView Hotel, offers a cool RM3000 to the champion and cash prizes up to the ninth position in the Masters category. Other attractions include golf at The Bukit Jambul Country Club, a sumptuous dinner sponsored by the Penang Tourism Board, freebies, lucky draws and spot prizes. There's even a special souvenir scrabble t-shirt for you to remember this tournament.

Those in the novices category have not been forgotten either. This category is aimed at school children and also for those who have a rating below 1000. Their tournament will be held on 2nd October at the same venue. Trophies and certificates will be awarded for the first five positions and cash prizes for the first three. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all participants in this category.

So, to all you fellow scrabblers in and outside Malaysia, what are you waiting for? Sign up now! Give us your support to make this event a successful one and we will make it even bigger and better next year! Bring along your friends and family and have a jolly good scrabble holiday in Penang. City BayView Hotel (the venue of the tournament) is offering a very special room rate of RM120.00 nett inclusive of breakfast for a double room.

Yours sincerely,

Penang Scrabble Club
